My long term dream is to create new sizing
standards based on real life humans. The project initially started as
"Size 13" - designed for a woman who always hovers in between size 12
& size 14 ...so why not create a new in-between size? This began the
journey of trying to create garments that could fall within size 13,
as much as possible.
Introducing size "GLADYSS"
The decision was made to create an exact
replica of the model's body that was used for Project Size 13. Instead
of assigning a sizing number for the next round of clothes, the new
mannequin was named as "Size Gladyss". Featured below is the
development work for "Ultimate Fit" hipster jeans.

Size GLADYSS is a woman who has a
small bust (A-B cup, or up to a C-cup whilst pregnant), doesn't have
much of a waist and her hips are slightly narrow. Although her hips
are slightly wider than her bust, she's more of an apple shape
instead of a pear, because her body fat tends to store most
around the waist area and her legs tend to remain fairly slim & long.
As she doesn't have much booty, the positioning of butt pockets for
pants becomes critical for flattering her slightly flat butt. Due to
having a small bust, A-line or waist-line clothes will make this make
this model look too bottom-heavy, which is why hipster cuts suit her
better. The absence of a prominent/curvy waist line, can be flattered
further by wearing dresses or shirts that feature 3/4 or full darting
on both back & front.

How does Size Gladyss compare to
existing standards?
[ US | Australian |
European ]
BUST = Size 6 | 12
| 40
WAIST = Size 11+ | 15+
| 43+
HIPS = Size 5 | 11
| 37
Due to the wider waist, garments made out
of stretch materials under size Gladyss, will sometimes be able to fit
AUS size 14-16,
while non-stretch garments will sometimes
fall within AUS size 10-12.
Common Fitting Problems for Size
Gladyss
* garments with décolletage are often too
lose for her bust, may have difficulty finding a good fit even if
she's wearing a padded bra or give up on wanting to show cleavage
entirely.
* bust point on shirts/dresses tends to be
a little too high
* difficulty in finding trousers that are
long enough in the leg
* more likely to experience muffin top
with waist-height pants
* thigh area of pants aren't narrow
enough, seamlines on sides can be far too curvy
* large wide feet, [size
AUS
9-10] - unable to wear heels, needs a square/chisel toe to accommodate
the width (unable to wear pointy/winklepickers)
Will you be creating + sized clothes in
future?
I definitely want to, but i won't be able
to move forward with it until i find a model who's willing to get her
entire body cast in my studio. The casting process is very expensive &
time-consuming, so I can only afford to work for private clients that
are willing to make the investment in time & money at this stage.
For now, I can only work on one size at a
time - and need to focus on mastering items for size Gladyss. On the
otherhand, i still welcome expressions of interest if you are having a
particularly difficult problem when it comes to finding clothes that
fit.
Please feel free to call - or email.
